Sweet Emie Jean

Best part of the week was finally getting to meet cute litle Emie Jean Williams! We are SO excited for Taylor and Keile and so happy to have a little one in the crew to love on. Going to soak up all the snuggles for the next couple of weeks before we head to Chicago. She is so sweet, I can't handle her little nose and toes!

We told Taylor and Keile we'd bring Sunday dinner to them so we made the Hall famous Swedish meatballs and enjoyed Sunday dinner with them and Zach and Jenna, we FaceTimed Tanner and Amanda in as well so they could be part of the fun too. It's so crazy to think where we'll all be one year from now when the boys get full-time offers, graduate and we go our separate ways. Until that day we'll just keep making memories together and Emie is definitely going to add to the fun. We gave Taylor and Keile a little "first year" scrapbook as a gift for the baby shower with a note that said we are so excited to be part of her first year. It really will be so fun to watch her grow up. She'll have grown so much even just by the time we all get back at the end of summer too. We can't wait to see all that she does in her life it really is so amazing to hold such a fresh spirit and look into their eyes and just imagine all the things they are going to do in their life. She really is so precious!

Other than that our week was full of work and school for me. Jaden made it about two days before starting to say things like "I can't wait to start working," "I'm so bored," "I've read two books in three days," "I feel like a worthless lump." He's taken advantage of the break by studying for an AWS certification, reading spy books and practicing his golf swing at the range and in our apartment. One night I was in my office studying and suddenly noticed it was "too quiet" like when a little kid is up to trouble so I walked into the hallway and peeked into the other room and saw Jade had moved our table and chairs out of the way and was standing on the rug in his underwear slowly swinging an iron and practicing his swing. It was seriously so funny. I keep telling him to enjoy the time off because it won't ever be like this again.

It's going to be really weird when we are in Chicago and he leaves for the full day. We haven't experienced that since he worked at Invite in Utah before we came out here. I'm going to miss his karaoke, constant whistling and times when he comes into my office and lays his head on my lap like a little kid or maybe a dog and asks for a head tickle. It will be good though we're getting excited for the next adventure and think it's crazy how fast it's creeping up!

Peaches

  • Meeting Emie
  • Feeling grateful for friends and family
  • Jaden making me laugh every single day

Pits

  • Starting back to school and not being able to spend as much time with Jaden after work because I have homework, it will be so worth it though, just might be a little trickier to be motivated these next few months with just me in school

Lessons Learned

  • When it is too quiet go check on the person no matter their age, sometimes it prevents a disaster other times it makes for a really good laugh
  • Newborns really do carry the sweetest spirit about them
