We Made it Rain
Utah is in a major draught and everyone is on water ration. This is foreign for us because Pittsburgh is humid and rains all of the time. Well this week it rained and we joked that we brought the moisture with us because we have an excess. Which was great except for the day of the downpour was also the day we had scheduled to go to a concert with all of Jaden's siblings. We drove into what looked like the eye of the storm to go see Thomas Rhett and experienced about an hour and a half rain delay until the lightning and rain stopped and we were able to go in.
Thomas Rhett was great that was a concert I had on my bucket list for a long time. I love his music and it was a lot of fun being there with Jaden's siblings and enjoying a night out together. Casey and Mike stayed home with the kids so it wasn't quite the full crew. It reminded me of a concert I went to with Jaden's sisters before we got married. I remember I loved hanging out with them and felt grateful and excited about the way they just welcomed me right into the family. I feel blessed to have an awesome brother and married into a great family where I gained six new siblings.
We ended up moving over to the Richins to stay for the remainder of the trip. We usually try to divide up our time and stay with each set of parents when we come home. It makes it a lot easier that they live less than 10 minutes apart so driving back and forth is super easy. It's always fun spending time with Jeff and Amy. I have so many memories sitting at their couch or on barstools at the counter and listening to family stories, talking about life and the gospel and laughing together. Again so blessed to have such an amazing family on all sides!
In tying back to this theme of rain I feel like there are times in life when we feel like we are in a draught. Life get's stressful, times get tough, unexpected tragedies happen. But it's the relationships that we have with people that like rain in the desert can bring clarity, peace and refresh a tired soul. I know I can speak for myself and Jaden when I say we are so grateful for the blessing of family that rains down all around us.
