1920s Halloween

We've already established that I don't do well with super creepy gory Halloween. Instead my kind of Halloween consists of yummy food, cute and funny costumes and decorations and lots of memories with friends and family. That was accomplished this weekend when we got together for our second annual Halloween party in Pittsburgh. We had a wide array of costumes ranging from Shaggy and Scooby (Tanner & Amanda), Gatsby and Flapper (Jade & me), Chick-Fil A workers & cow (Taylor, Keile and Emie), and Mac Miller & Cheese (Zach and Jenna). Jaden's hair and mustache inspired our costume. He wanted to do something slicked back with his hair so we decided to go 1920s and he was Gatsby and I was a flapper. Everything was courtesy of Amazon and I have decided I need to actually see the Great Gatsby movie because I have only read the book.

Let's be honest the costumes are mainly just for the pictures so we took pictures first thing and then changed into comfier clothes and had dinner and played games together. It was a fun day. We ended up celebrating Halloween on Sunday with our normal Sunday dinner since Halloween fell on a Monday and the boys all had class.

Also have to back up and say that we carved pumpkins earlier this week at Tanner and Amanda's which was a lot of fun. Amanda's was especially cute because it featured a little baby pumpkin with a binky. We can't wait to meet their little pumpkin this winter! Also have to call out that Taylor's pumpkin was simply two holes because it was intended to stick Emie in and take pictures with her legs sticking out of the pumpkin. She hated it and Taylor wore it on his head. Too funny!

Peaches

  • There has been a shortage of Life Savers but I finally found a big bag at the local CVS. For some reason we are on a mints over gum kick and go through them like crazy. I know they are chock full of sugar but we just love how refreshing they are.

  • Flag football is back for the second year. The boys are pumped and literally asked if I was going to come and make treats. The expectation has been set and I couldn't disappoint. Made football molasses cookies for the first game. They were a hit

  • Got my calendar loaded up with to do's. I love having everything above my desk to quickly reference and keep track of

  • These two little purple flowers reminded me of my mom

  • We got invited to another Halloween party in our ward where we did murder mystery board games. I had never done one before and it was basically like a more in depth version of Clue. It was actually a lot of fun and we got to know some other people in the ward that we might not have hung out with otherwise.

  • Painted pumpkins at Young Women's which was a fun change (and way less messy) than carving

Pits

  • My mummy stromboli was rushed and you can tell but that's ok it made me laugh.
