We're home!!!! After a long awaited four months we are back in the state of Utah and ready for several weeks of festivities with friends and families. But as excited as we are to be home I've got to back up a few days and share about our week leading up to coming home.
Our week was filled with gingerbread houses I did one of my own at young women's and then we met up with our friends and decorated gingerbread houses at Taylor and Keile's. I had seen a hack where you get sticks of gum and glue them to the side of the house like bricks and then make a thatched looking roof with wheat chex and powdered sugar. It was super adorable in theory but unfortunately was too heavy for the Target gingerbread house kit frosting so we lost half our roof in a winter storm. Definitely got style points though.

Then for our final night out before we left for Utah we tried Pittsburgh's version of Teppanyaki. It wasn't nearly as good but was still a lot of fun and was fun to watch Emie experience the sights and sounds of a hibachi grill. She and Jaden had a little karate match back and forth from across the table. She would wave her arms and scream and he would wave his arms and yell back. We think she's slowly warming up to us and likes us from a distance. I'll take it.

Another fun highlight of the week was I found a Hallmark Bingo sheet on Pinterest and we chose a cheesy Christmas movie on Netflix to try it out on. Jaden got a kick checking stuff off the list of the different scenes that nearly every Hallmark Christmas movie has: an awkward situation, New York is mentioned, an almost kiss, someone living in a home they probably can't afford, something clumsy happens, people coming together to save the day, etc. All jokes aside I do love me a good heartwarming movie and Hallmark has no shortage of them. My forever favorites are: Hitched for the Holidays, Snow Bride, & A Bride for Christmas.
And just like that it was time to journey back to our own hometown from the hustle and bustle of the city and discover the true meaning of Christmas with the people we love the most.
Our flight was nice and long and of course took place during the World Cup finals. Jaden about had a panic attack when the service went down right toward the final penalty kicks. However a guy a few rows up saved the day by holding his iPad up for the rest of us to squint and see. And then a very "considerate" passenger next to us said "oh my mom just texted and said Argentina won," and spoiled the ending for us. It was really funny. But check off the "people coming together to save the day" off our Hallmark movie bingo card.
My dad was there to pick us up and Bridger and my mom were waiting with signs and a cute little welcome basket.
Peaches
- Even though we aren't home for Christmas I still love decorating a few things. I didn't bring out a tree but didn't leave home without my manger and nativity, the most important Christmas decorations in my eyes
- Christmas party with the youth
- Decorating gingerbread houses
- Dinner with friends
- The guy holding up his iPad to show us the World Cup final
- I always take a picture of the squirrel on the mural of the SLC airport and send it to my mom so she knows her squirrel is home from Squirrel Hill (Bridger gave me a flying squirrel as my spirit animal)
- Made some yummy pesto pasta, broccoli and salad
- Both of us have a break from school. Hard to believe a year ago I was just gearing up to begin this thing and now I'm almost done!
- Hallmark movie bingo is going to be a new family tradition for us
- Being home fort he holidays
Pits
- Looong day of travel, Jaden and I both can't wait for Dallas which will be an easy direct flight
- Our gingerbread house couldn't live up to the vision I had for it
