How Does Dad Do It?

We got home on January 9 and I turned around and went right back to the airport on the 10th and headed for Indianapolis for a work tradeshow. We had several clients at ATA so Gretchen and I met up with Major and attended meetings with several clients and walked the showroom floor looking for potential additional clients. We went out to eat at a yummy seafood place and I had one of the best southwest salads I have ever had in my life at a local cafe across from the event space.

Gretchen and I shared a room and it was a lot of fun to hang out and talk to her in person. I really love my team and am so grateful for the career opportunity I have with Flywheel. It has been such a blessing as we have moved and traveled back and forth across the country and will only continue to be a blessing in Dallas. It was a super quick trip and before I knew it I was on a plane back to the Burgh. I've grown up watching my dad go on back to back trips and let me tell you they aren't for the faint of heart. I was truly exhausted by the time I got home and also so excited to be back with Jaden and sleeping in my own bed.

After I got back we decided to try to go see a movie with Zach and Jenna and in true Pittsburgh fashion we show up tickets in hand and go to walk into the theater and a worker comes up and says "unfortunately the sound isn't working so we'll have to give you vouchers and have you come back a different day" so we headed home to try another night

The next night we went and babysat our bishop's kids. They are really good kids and were so cute they had drawn us pictures before we got there and loved listening to Jaden read them stories. As hard as it is to leave family it is good to be back in our space, our routine and our friends.

Peaches
  • I raided Amy's old pictures and scrapbooks on our last night there and snapped pictures of as many as I could find of Jaden as a baby and toddler. I haven't seen many of him and it was fun to look through them and imagine what our kids will look like one day. I can't handle the pic of him as a jack-o-lantern. So stinking cute. My mom dressed me up in a similar costume one year. I'll have to have her dig up that pic to compare

  • Going to ATA show
  • Seeing and spending time with Major and Gretchen. I am so grateful and truly love being part of the Flywheel team!
  • Ate the yummiest Southwestern salad in Indiana
  • Chatting and sharing a room with Gretchen
  • Seeing clients and having in person meetings
  • Babysitting
  • Watching a Jim Gaffigan comedy show with Jaden

Pits
  • We got some pretty intense sniffles the day before we left for PA. The plane ride was miserable to say the least. Jaden ended up stuffing napkins up his nose to try to stop the mucous flow. Gross I know but also kind of funny

  • Feeling sick and sounding horrible at the trade show
  • It's kind of surreal being with family one day and across the country the next
  • Getting massive blisters from my cute loafer shoes

  • Kicking myself I didn't get a picture at the ATA show with Major and Gretchen
  • Not being able to see A Man Called Otto when we had originally planned
