Don't Forget to Remember

I recently had a conversation with a former mission companion about the amount of friends and peers we see leaving the church. It feels like a mass exodus at times. We were talking about how important it is to remember past experiences feeling the spirit and closeness to Christ and using those experiences to propel you forward in seeking continual experiences and closeness. As I typed a response back to her the thought came to me "Don't forget to remember." I think that phrase can be applied to many things. Don't forget to remember blessings, tender mercies, overcoming difficult things, experiences with friends and family, memories of new places and feeling the presence of God in your life. It is so easy to forget. It takes effort to remember. But I know that remembering is worth it and inspires lasting change. So take inventory of your experiences and don't forget to remember the way God has influenced your life. Let those memories inspire more change and goodness. Don't forget to remember to pray, be kind, love others, look for God and give yourself credit where credit is due and set goals to be even better.

That's my brief yet hopefully impactful thought for the week: don't forget to remember.

Peaches
  • Apparently a pile of laundry that needs to be folded makes a good nap spot. Love my puppy dog that comes and lays by my feet after a long day of working out and doing homework
  • Parents sent me a balloon arch set and the warehouse lady at Browning boxed it up in a vacuum box. Gave Jaden a scare when he thought I had purchased a new vacuum. Best part was I sent a pic to my mom and she was equally confused. Good one Browning warehouse lady

  • Made Birria tacos for Sunday dinner. Love Jaden's makeshift apron

  • Seeing a building on CMU campus near completion, it was just in the beginning stages when we moved here. Time flies!

  • Discovering that our route to Dallas will go through Nashville, we will be stopping there for sure!

  • Taught Jaden how to play Yahtzee and then promptly beat him twice. Needless to say he doesn't like the game

  • I might have mentioned this before but it is near to impossible to find a carwash in the city, we have to drive at least 20 minutes to get to one. Zach and Jenna discovered a new one that has previously said permanently closed on Google Maps but is in fact open and running. It is by far the nicest carwash we've found. Actually reminded us of home a little bit, it's the little things

  • Saw a couch perched on top of a bus stop on our way home from running errands. The amount of effort it must have taken for that laugh is astounding

  • Finally got a replacement picture of our friends for the frame they got us when we moved out here. I remember Jaden telling Bryn when we unwrapped it "when people ask who is in the picture I'll tell them it's our family." ...I'm not crying you're crying

  • After nearly a year and a half I finally rearranged our kitchen counter workspaces and it has a much better flow. No more hauling the air fryer in and out of the pantry.

  • Made a yummy new chicken dish. Chelsea's Messy Apron food blog rarely disappoints!

Pits
  • Same old homework drag, but we're approaching the finish line!
