Comedians & Conference

This week was a lot of catchup of work. Even though I was able to work a lot while I was in Georgia it was a little spacey and distracted so it's always nice to get back in my space where I can put my head down and work and get caught up.

Zach texted the group early in the week saying that the comedian Nate Bargatze was coming into town and doing a show at PPG Paints arena (where the Penguins play). He asked if anyone wanted to go and we all decided to get tickets and go together, except for Keile because it was right during Emie's bedtime. Jaden and I have watched a few of Nate's Netflix specials and thought he was super funny. I love that he's from TN and is family friendly and not crude at all. His show was honestly so dang funny I am so glad we went. I've never been to a live comedy show before but it was so fun to sit and laugh your guts out I literally had a stomach ache from laughing. We loved it!

The rest of the week passed quickly and then the weekend was General Conference. It was crazy to think this is the last conference we'll watch all together with our CMU crew. It was Jaden and my turn to host dinner so we invited everyone over to watch the last session and eat Tortellini salad. It is a loaded salad that is a meal in and of itself and between cooking that and making Jaden a yummy breakfast we were running out of space in our kitchen so Jaden had to go into the bathroom to use an outlet to mix something which I found so hilarious. We've had our fair share of apartment quirks and are excited to hopefully have a lot of modern upgrades in our next place.

I thought conference was so good. I love preparing for Easter with conference and just feel so uplifted and so much peace after hearing from Church leaders. I especially loved Bonnie H. Cordon, Peter F. Meurs, and Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk. Right before the first session on Saturday our bishop texted and asked if Jaden and I would be willing to give talks the Sunday following conference. I was given the topic of speaking on President Nelson's remarks and Jaden's topic was themes of conference. We were kind of hoping we could fly under the radar and not have to speak again before we moved but they snagged us. It actually made listening to conference more meaningful and I felt like I was even more attentive knowing I would have to speak soon.

Peaches

  • Got this picture and text from my Uncle Wayne from my Grandma's phone. It warmed my heart as weird as it is that her phone number is turned off

  • Amy sent me this talk which I loved and feel like is so relevant today. I am terrified to raise daughters and just want to be a good example to my future kids

  • Also found and loved this quote

  • Chick-fil-A always warming hearts and filling stomachs

  • This text from Bridge. Pizza with raw cheese is definitely a thinkg

  • Found an old note I had made after my experience at Pioneer Trek in 2012. I am really grateful for the spiritual building experiences I had growing up that have solidified my faith and given me a lot of peace and confidence in a crazy world

Pits

  • The store was out of sausage for Jaden's sausage egg casserole so I had to get a little creative and cut up patties
